Three pillars

Your body talks.
This is it, written down.

Sleep

Timing, duration, continuity, quality and how consistent you are — each scored against your own last thirty nights, not a population average.

Recovery

HRV taken from the deep-sleep window rather than a daytime average, with resting heart rate and last night's sleep weighted alongside it.

Activity

Steps, energy, exercise and stand hours — plus strain from your heart-rate data on the days the watch was on your wrist.

Sleep

The whole night, stage by stage.

A hypnogram of deep, REM and core with every wake-up marked — and the five things that built your score, each shown against what is normal for you.

  • Hold any trend to scrub back through the week
  • Every point carries its own number
  • Bedtime goals that follow sunset, if you want them

Recovery

Ready, or not.

Measured while you were asleep, so the reading is your body at rest rather than a record of your commute.

  • HRV from the deep-sleep window
  • Compared to your own baseline, not a chart
  • Says how far a number drifted, and from what
HRV, resting heart rate and sleep
Activity

Effort, in context.

Sitting next to recovery, a hard day reads as a hard day — not a win or a failure on its own.

  • Steps, energy, exercise and stand across the week
  • Goals you set, not defaults you inherit
  • Strain from heart rate when the watch was on

Privacy

There is no server to trust.

Most health apps ask you to hand your data to a company and take their word for it. Refresh has no account, no analytics and no backend — the numbers are computed on your phone and stay there.

No account

No email, no password, no profile. The app has never asked who you are.

No third-party code

No tracking SDK, no crash reporter, no analytics library — none at all.

No upload

Your sleep, heart rate and activity are never transmitted anywhere.

FAQ

Questions worth asking.

Do I need an Apple Watch?

For sleep staging and HRV, yes — those come from the watch. Refresh reads whatever Apple Health already holds, so if another device writes sleep or heart rate there, that works too. Without any wearable you will still get steps and energy from your phone, but the recovery score has nothing to compute from.

Where does my data go?

Nowhere. There is no account and no server. Health data is read from Apple Health on your phone, used to draw what you see, and never transmitted. The only two outbound requests the app makes are a weather lookup, if you turn on a sunset-based bedtime goal, and a food database lookup when you scan a barcode — neither carries any health data.

How is the sleep score calculated?

Five parts: how consistent your bedtime and wake time are, how long you were actually asleep, how broken the night was, the balance of deep and REM against core, and how close you went to bed to your target. Each is scored against your own recent nights rather than a fixed ideal, so the number moves when you change.

Why is my HRV different from other apps?

Most apps show a daily average, which mixes your resting readings with whatever your heart was doing at 3pm. Refresh takes HRV from the deep-sleep window specifically — a quieter, more comparable measurement, and usually a different number from the one Health shows on its summary screen.

Can I cancel?

Any time, from your Apple ID subscription settings. The trial is seven days and billing starts after it, not before.
